Review for For All Ages, Inc., Simsbury, CT, USA
I had the pleasure of participating in a recent program called “Chairs for All Ages” at the For All Ages non-profit. The “Chairs for All Ages” program brought together volunteers from the local high school and adult residents from area towns in effort to foster dialog and interaction. This was accomplished through the formation of multiple teams of the young and the young at heart. The teams were challenged to design and artistically apply their designs in paint schemes on wooden Adirondack chairs built by Simsbury, Connecticut High School students. Designs represented symbols and experiences of current and past life in Connecticut’s towns. Team member interactions and conversations were meaningful and resulted in varied and unique design schemes. The program achieved its objective to promote intergenerational awareness. In addition to high school student volunteers, non-student volunteers included business owners, local professional artists, homemakers and retirees. The program was successfully led by Co-Chairs Deb Bibbins and Gary Sekorski. The painted Adirondack chairs can be seen around the town of Simsbury, Connecticut where they were placed with local sponsors. Looking for an opportunity to make a difference? If so, connect with Deb or Gary at For All Ages.
