Review for CAMBA, Inc, Brooklyn, NY, USA

I I have found the staff at CAMBA's Shelter program to be genuine and extremely caring and nurting of the women they serve. Having a background in social work I have witness the staff intervene with an emotionally distraught woman in an effectively caring manner. Instead of the usual "shut-up" or " be quiet" the staff responded by asking the woman what does she need? lets us know and we will do our best. The woman began to shed tears and lowered her voice and went with staff to a private location to discuss her concerns.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would extend servcies to the other boroughs; where as CAMBA is centerally located in the borough of Brooklyn.

Role:  Volunteer & have volunteer at CAMBA's Park Slope Women's Shelter. I assisted with conducting mock housing interviews to aid the Women prepare for housing and transition back into the community from the shelter. .
