My Nonprofit Reviews

Until this organization shows its members a financial statement, I suggest NO ONE donate to this group. The current BOD has not provided financial records to the members despite repeated requests to do so. Excuses are constantly made, but no reports have been presented
The membership has no idea of how much is in the bank account, where money has been spent or donations that may have come in. Within the membership, there are serious allegations of misuse of funds - yet the people who know or should know what is going on have not taken any action to have it investigated.
Yes, this is a serious heads up to the donors, members, the city of Manchester and general public that this non profit needs to be investigated by the State of CT and the IRS.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
file a complaint with the state's attorney and Manchester Police Dept to have an investigation started. However, fear of repercussions from those who know what is wrong and refuse to act stops me from putting my name on a complaint.

This group is a wonderful group of artists that is unfortunately led by a president who truly does not support the mission of the group. In her role as president, she has attacked several other members both publicly and privately. MAA suffers from this negative leadership as word spreads throughout the artist community. Both good and bad affect the MAA's events and membership drives. The members of MAA needs to take a hard look at its leadership and not be afraid to make changes that ultimately will benefit the group. The president is the public face of this association and negative acts damage this wonderful group. Some amazing and wonderful people are part of this group. More volunteers and artsits might join if leadership was changed. Many other art associations exist in CT that artists can look to for support. When looking for a group, look for a one where the board of directors is involved in the running of the group and they are accessible to all and willing to speak up and take action.

Not give all the power and control to one person. BOD needs to be more out in the forefront and accessible. Otherwise this group does a nice job with events and shows.
