Review for Cumac Echo, Inc., Paterson, NJ, USA
Since posting my initial review in July 2020, I continue to volunteer regularly and have joined CUMAC’s board of trustees. I strongly believe in the work and the people, and the dignity with which all are served. I am learning about the effects of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), the benefits of trauma-informed community building, and the partnerships CUMAC initiates with local nonprofits and public agencies at the city and state levels to better serve community residents. I encourage you to volunteer and experience all that makes CUMAC a unique and exceptionally led organization!
We are happy you are learning so much, Kristin and love having you here! Thanks for all your support!
Review for Cumac Echo, Inc., Paterson, NJ, USA
I learned about CUMAC in 2019 through my work with Impact 100 Garden State and now volunteer weekly in the marketplace. What brings me back? Two things: the spirit of the people and the spirit of the organization.
The vibe throughout the marketplace and warehouse is authentically upbeat. No matter their role, everyone pitches in to get the job done, and there’s an underlying hum of conversation and laughter that fills the space. Each client is warmly welcomed and treated with dignity throughout their visit; I’m struck by the depth of the interaction with each client. Each week I leave CUMAC feeling like my bucket is fuller than when I arrived.
CUMAC educates its staff and volunteers to help us understand the root causes that lead to hunger, and the broader impact these root causes have on a client’s life. CUMAC's culture is one of continuous improvement and innovation that brings people – employees, volunteers, community partners, and donors – together to help end hunger and change lives.
