As a facilitator at Art & Creativity for Healing I have seen miracles at work! I have had the honor of facilitating classes for all ages and demographics. There is something learned from everyone. As students express their own issues and lives on the canvas, there is often and "Ah-Hah" moment of clarity where they learn something new about themselves. I never know what that might be as I am just holding space for exploration. The process alone initiates clearer thinking out of the usual box. It is definitely an adventure witnessing this journey.
I have worked extensively with at-risk teenagers and have witnessed life direction altered as they put their pieces together. There might be a single moment where they decide they need to get a way from a relationship or drugs, or get their act together. I've had senior citizens work out years of trauma right in front of me. I've had Wounded Warriors come up and hug me for creating a space where they can express their fears. And I had a boy, who was thought to be mute, speak up to share his painting. I have seen miracles!
The Art and Creativity for Healing curriculum is extremely valuable as it works on all levels for everyone. There is always something to be learned from the canvas!
