Review for Society of St. Andrew, Big Island, VA, USA
SoSA is an extremely efficient and effective organization. Following a very simple and age old philosophy of gleaning perfectly good food that would otherwise go to waste, they provide millions of pounds of food per year to those in need. With the ever increasing problem of obesity, even in those who face food insecurity, a provider of fresh fruits and vegetables produced at very low cost is invaluable to our nation. Gleaning and distributing excess food left in fields should be standard operating procedure on all farms in all states. SoSA provides the infrastructure to gather and distribute this food through their many partnerships with churches, transportation companies and other non-profits, such as Feeding America.
