As a former intern at Active Minds, I got to see first-hand the impact that the organization has on students across the nation, and even from around the world. I had the unique opportunity of interacting with these students via email and even in person at the Active Minds National Conference. The personal stories of these students were so moving, and the way that Active Minds played a role in mental health journeys of so many emphasized my pride and appreciation for the organization. The national staff at Active Minds is extremely responsive and reactive to changing times (especially as has been experienced with the COVID-19 pandemic and the Black Lives Matter activist movement), immediately offering ample resources and support for its student network. Passion, leadership, and sheer dedication to mental health advocacy among students and school counseling centers at colleges and high schools is just as prevalent; having observed the ways in which members of the Active Minds community are constantly looking out for one another speaks to the nurturing and effective nature of the organization. My experience with Active Minds has been nothing but uplifting, eye-opening, and promising of the future of mental health advocacy.
