I was introduced to this program through my VA therapist during extensive treatment of PTSD. After being accepted into the program I began attending training sessions to observe while waiting for the next available class. I was totally amazed watching these vets and their pups grow into handlers and service dogs and couldn't wait to be a part of this. One day, upon arrival to observe, I happened upon a dog and his foster parents as they were leaving the facility. There was an immediate connection! That week I was blessed and was able to take Elvin home as we awaited an opening for the next training class. These people, from CEO to the receptionist have embraced me. They treat every vet with respect and treat every vet like family. After many weeks of training, hard work and dedication Elvin and I graduated as service dog and handler! I've had my dog for 3 years now and he has changed so many aspects of my life. K9P4P saved him and they also saved me. They continue to support me. They continue to encourage me. Without this program I don't know where I'd be today. Thank you all for not only being there for me but for all you do for our Veterans.
