Review for Bethesda Foundation Inc, Denver, CO, USA

Rating: 5 stars

My husband and I have served as host couple (providing meals and light housekeeping and friendly companionship) at Quiet Waters Retreat while the couples encountered intensive counseling a few hours a day from the counselors. We have seen the results in the lives of exhausted pastors, missionaries and their spouses through intensive counseling in a beautiful and restful setting. The story is best told through quotes from four thank you letters we have received: 1)"Your kind and gracious ministry were more than appreciated, they were life-giving. Many thanks for your warm hospitality and conversation." 2)"The last few months have been the most challenging of my life. I arrived Monday exhausted and very discouraged. Your ministry of caring meant a lot to me this week. It allowed me to focus on my walk with the Lord. Thank you for your attention to the little details this week. Thank you for your prayers." 3)"Thank you for making us feel welcome, comfortable, and loved." 4)"Words cannot adequately express how grateful we are for all the kindness, hospitality and love that you have given to us this week. Thank you for everything. Your presence provided a kind of covering and blessings that was so comforting. Thank you for your warm hearts, warm food, wisdom and service to us. We look forward to all God has in store next week and believe our appointment with you was just what God intended for us this week. You've been such a blessing." We also received a blessing by knowing these precious servants of the Lord, praying for and with them and seeing their relieved expressions toward the end of their time at the retreat.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

There is nothing that I would change in this organization except that I hope that financial support will increase so that more scholarship funding can be provided to the clients. Then the leadership can do what they do best, provide the finest counseling and spiritual transformation that is available, for exhausted pastors, missionaries and their spouses and families, to return them to their field of service with renewed wisdom and enthusiasm for family and ministry.

Role:  Volunteer & My husband and I spent three two week periods living in the retreat home, cooking all the meals, changing the linens and tidying up as needed, and enjoying the company of the pastors, missionaries and spouses who came into the retreat for a time of rest a.
