2020 was supposed to be a good year for me. Our bookstore, OtherWorlds Books & More celebrated it's 2nd birthday and Christmas sales had been good. We live in a small Wisconsin town and tourist town, so winter is the time to slow down and focus. I had a large 'to do' list and was prepared to revamp my store. Then I get the call that changed all that. My brother in Colorado had died. Being the only one left in my family, I headed to Colorado leaving my husband and friends to man the store when they can. I spent 22 days trying to close everything up, which included his mobile home. BINC came through for me big time! I was able to pay for lot rent, my mortgage, funeral expenses with the help of BINC. I came home and life was getting back to normal until Covid hit. Our store had to close. The website I had meant to work on but had to put aside due to my brother's death was not finished so I didn't have that to fall back on. Then I got the email from BINC, who, once again, gave me a wonderful grant. I cried tears of joy. I have told everyone I can about this wonderful organization. I don't think I would have made it through much longer without that gift. I am happy to say we are OPEN for business and I know I can face the rest of 2020 with as much hope as I had before all these troubles started. Thank you BINC and the supporting donors. I know once I straighten out, I will be a donor as well.
