Review for Hope For Paws, Studio City, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I adopted a Hope for Paws dog, a german shepherd who had been hit by a truck and wound up in the pound with a badly fractured femoral head and femur, a broken hip. He sat there for 2 weeks, no other rescue could pull him out because of the very expensive surgery he required. Most rescues opt to save several other dogs for the cost it would take to save just this one. Eldad partnered with a local foundation and together they got him out of the pound, took him to one of the best surgeons in LA, and got his hip repaired. Then the dog went to Westside GS Rescue for adoption, and that's how I came to adopt him, a week after that surgery. The best dog ever. There was no video made about it, Eldad didn't ask for any kind of credit or public recognition for saving this dog. He just pulled him out, paid for the surgery, and made sure he went to a good rescue that was also willing to help. I was so grateful, I made a nice donation to Hope for Paws and was a bit dismayed that it wasn't acknowledged. But at the start of the next year, 9 months later, I got a thank you letter for the donation to his nonprofit that I could use for my taxes. Don't hate the guy because he makes nice videos and makes money on Youtube, like so many other people do for less effort. Anyone else could do it too. He rescues many other animals like mine that also don't get a video made if it's not that exciting of a rescue. I got to know my dog's surgeon. He thought very highly of Eldad, as Eldad brought him many dogs that needed surgery. Most didn't get videos made. Rescue groups work with specific veterinarians that give them discounts and are more flexible to be able to help dogs in distress. My dog's hip fracture was very complicated because it fused while he sat in the pound for 2 weeks, but the surgeon worked miracles and my dog went on to live a very happy life, and that is thanks to Eldad being the only one who was willing to pull him out of the pound and save his life.
