Review for Interfaith Ministries For Greater Houston, Houston, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I am a Board member of Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston. Three, four years ago on the Meals on the Wheels program, IM served around two thounds home bound seniors every day. We had a long waiting list of hungry seniors, and our budget was in the deep red. Our CEO and Board members decided to do the unthinking able; we decided to open up the waiting list to served more seniors and took our messages to our community and organizations to secure and and solicite more funding. Long story short, today our Meals on the Wheels program serve almost 4,500 seniors in our Houston community every day. There is no longer a waiting list. We even serve breakfast, weekend meals and pet food for seniors who have pets and have special needs. We also expanded our interfaith relations program with the launching of the Amazing Faith Dinner dialogue program, Ready Houston and Congregation to Congregation program. Those programs provide people of different faith traditions a chance to communicate, learn and understand each other and to serve the community together. I can't find a nonprofit organization that is more worthy of your support. We not only serve the needy in our community we also try to build a community of trust, understanding and tolerance. We are working hand in hand with all congregations to make Houston a better place for people of all faith traditions and all ages.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Deliever food to homebound seniors on Thanks Giving day for the Meals on the Wheels program. Served as volunteers on the Congregation to Conregation project. Serveed as Board member in IMGH.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

No changes needed except to continue the good work and to strengthen the Interfaith Relations program in order to have more volunteers from our congregations and community to serve seniors.

Role:  Board Member & I volunteered at the Congregation to Congregation project.
