I am the manager of a nunnery in Nepal, and we have had volunteer teachers from VIN helping to educate our young nuns since 2015. All the volunteers selected to come to us were exactly suited to our needs, and our young nuns, who all come from the remote Dolpa district, have profited enormously. Not only English, but a whole range of subjects are taught, depending on the skills and inclinations of the volunteers. Handicrafts, music, we even had a mini Olympic games. The volunteers also enjoy the life and routines of a Tibetan nunnery, something they would never otherwise experience, and the young nuns get insights into other cultures and lifestyles they also would never experience. VIN is well organised and always monitors the volunteers to make sure they are in good health and enjoying their time in Nepal. The picture is of the young nuns having lunch in the nunnery garden.
