I've been a bookseller for 20 years. Way back when, as an employee of Borders, I contributed to the emergency fund for booksellers. I never thought I'd be the one in need of help.
Since then, I've worked for many bookstores. With Covid-19, my store has closed. My sister told me that Binc exists, still, even though Borders is no more. I applied, and it was so easy. They sent me enough money to pay my rent.
I am so grateful that this nonprofit exists. They were so kind and responsive. Makes me feel like my years as a devoted and passionate bookseller weren't a waste.
