Review for Big Cat Rescue, Corp., Odessa, FL, USA
I have supported BCR for many years and the recent "documentary" Tiger King has greatly disappointed me with all of its lies. Those who are leaving a review about small cage sizes, poor environments, etc. are honestly not very bright people and have never in their lives been to BCR because if they had (if they they did a quick google search), they'd know how large and exceptional the enclosures actually are. I encourage anyone who has doubts about this sanctuary to please do some research before believing the "documentary" that holds no truths whatsoever. And let me ask you this, if BCR is as bad as the series portrayed it, then why has it won Best NonProfit at least seven years in a row, the GuideStar Platinum Seal of Transparency, the America's Best Charities Seal of Excellent and a perfect score of 100 from Charity Navigator, the most respected charity evaluator? Doesn't add up if BCR has such small unkempt cages like the "documentary" suggests.
Want a quick explanation about why BCR cages looked small on your screen? They're not tiny square gravel-floored boxes like Joe Exotic's cages, they're multi-sectional curve-walled enclosures that range from 1200 square feet to 1 acre (not including the 2.5 acre vacation rotation enclosure). Yeah. The smallest enclosure is the size of a small house. I've attached a map. Please note the tunnels connecting sections of enclosures. I have also added the state's requirements for big cat cages VS what BCR actually provides.
Please, before you speak poorly about business, people, and charities, you may want to do a little research or else you'll look like a complete fool.
