Review for The Borgen Project, Tacoma, WA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I worked with The Borgen Project as a journalist intern for a four month period. Managers are highly invested in interns given their constant communication to ensure we are progressing and enjoying our experience.

Throughout my experience I interacted with managers on a weekly basis via google docs and email to ensure work progress and clarity. Among weekly emails we had quarterly video sessions to discuss any topics we needed assistance with whether it be difficulty with fundraising, assistance with choosing a writing topic, or discussing interviewing skills.

In general, the entire experience was worthwhile given the fact that the work you complete is impactful to the companies mission of global poverty reduction on a domestic scale via legislation. On a weekly basis we write informative articles on poverty reduction, while also contacting our local senators and representatives via email and telephone. When a bill gets passed, volunteers, interns and the individuals we mobilize in our community are part of that.

Such success emphasizes the importance of our political citizenship and the power we each hold. With this internship, I am thus walking away with a new view point on political power and of always thinking about the positive aspect in every walk of life.
