Review for Educational Pathways International, Incline Village, NV, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Rayina Barkumu Yakub is my name, a 22 year old female and a fifth year Medical student of the University For Development Studies, Ghana. I am a proud and grateful Educational Pathways International (EPI) beneficiary.

For the past five years, I have been one of the lucky people to enjoy EPI scholarship package and it has been an amazing opportunity and a true blessing. When I got admitted as a student to the university, I was both excited and worried. This was because I knew my family wasn’t financially strong enough to support me as a student in the university let alone a medical student. Luckily for me, my hard work in the Senior High School coupled with the opportunity provided by EPI has changed my life completely.

I have been privileged to be part of the EPI family. My academic and personal needs have been funded for completely for the past years. These include my tuition, books medical equipment, clothing, feeding and accommodation .This has made both my academic life and life in general so easy for me and also gives me a sense of security, encouragement and motivation to always thrive to be a better student.

Not only is my education being funded for, extracurricular activities like report writing and public speaking are some of the bonuses we receive to help us be better students since they are important skills that will help us in our various career settings. EPI is indeed more than a scholarship scheme; they are a family where everyone cares for the other.

I chose to study medicine in my tertiary education because I love the idea of being helpful to people in any little way possible. To be productive in any aspect of work, it is essential to be strong both physically and mentally. As a medical doctor, I will be able to help save lives of sick people through proper diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases, which will go a long way to boost the economy of my country, and also increasing the standards of living of its citizens.

I particularly want to specialize and become a Pediatrician. Children are a very important part of our society; they are the next generation, and I’d like to be part in shaping and growing the future of our society by providing quality healthcare to the sick especially in rural communities in my country.

Quality healthcare is essential for the development of our societies and the nation as a whole. I aim to become a very good clinician and a patriotic citizen to help in nation building.

Without the help EPI is giving me, my life would be extremely difficult. Therefore I would like to be a very dedicated to EPI in order to help grow the foundation in any way possible and be able to impact and change more lives in our societies.

I would like to thank God first for my life for this unique opportunity and also for the lives of every donor or sponsor of EPI from the top to bottom. May God always be with them and a very big thank you to EPI for making my life a better one. I will be forever grateful.

Thank you EPI.

My name is Rayina Barkumu Yakubu a second year student of the University for Development Studies, Ghana and a beneficiary of Educational Pathways International (EPI) studying Medicine.

Becoming an EPI beneficiary in the year 2018 was one the best things that happened to me in my life. EPI ensures me that as long as I continue to produce good grades and work hard, I will continue to enjoy the full scholarship that has been awarded to me for the six years duration of my programme. Coming from a financially weak background this was a huge relief and blessing to both me and my family. Since I was offered this wonderful opportunity, I no longer have to worry about working outside school to help my family pay for my education. I study in comfort and this has helped me be a better student.

EPI is not just a scholarship program but a family that provides a sense of security, moral and educational support. Extra-curriculum activities are taught to us the beneficiaries to make us better students and help us in the future.

Medicine has always been an area of interest to me since I was a little girl. My passion for medicine is derived from the fact that I like to help people in every little possible way I can and what better way to do so than to help save the lives of people. I admire Doctors for their hardworking nature, courage and dedication to help the citizens of their nation. Sound minds and physically fit bodies are needed for productivity in every nation. What better way to help make this possible than to be able to medically advise, diagnose and treat people who need medical assistance.

After graduation, I would like to further as a Pediatrician to help the sick and deprived children in the rural parts of my country. I like to assist in every way that I can and will join organizations that are aimed at children’s health and welfare like the Pediatric Society of Ghana. I will also be a very active member of the EPI Alumni and help in cash or kind or anyway possible to help to support the organization and hence needy students like me in the country.

Words are not enough to express my gratitude to EPI for this once in a life time wonderful opportunity that I have been given. I promise to work hard to make myself a better individual and student for my family, community and for myself and the nation at large. God bless you all. Thank you.
