Review for Educational Pathways International, Incline Village, NV, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I am Abrokwah Joseph Junior, a 3rd year Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science student at the University for Development Studies (UDS). Educational Pathways International (EPI) has made and is still making a great impression in my life and I would like to use this opportunity to express my profound gratitude and appreciation to her and her associates. After my graduation from high school in 2018, I had a dream of serving my people in the health sector, particularly in the diagnostics field to help improve their health. This caused for the necessity for me to further my education. In 2019, I got an admission to read the six-year Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science program. When I got to campus, things were really hard. I applied for a scholarship with EPI. After a series interviews I was awarded the scholarship. Since then, EPI has been the financial pillar supporting my schooling. Every year, I receive funds from the E.P.I Scholarship to take care of my school fees, accommodation, study materials and pocket money on campus. Besides the financial support is a mentorship programme which prepare us (the beneficiaries) in areas where we wouldn’t be exposed to in the lecture halls.I am now in the third year of my programme, with a sound mind to study and focus on my dream pursuit. With the support from Educational Pathways International, I am certain that I will graduate as a Medical Laboratory Scientist hopefully in 2025. I will apply the knowledge and skills I am learning to the diagnostic field of health care delivery to help improve the health of the people of Ghana.

The Educational Pathways International (EPI) is a non-profit organization that provide educational support to gifted but needy tertiary students who have the potentials to impact their societies positively toward development. Ever since I, Abrokwah Joseph Junior became a beneficiary of the EPI scholarship program in 2019/2020 academic year, the program has transformed my life appreciably in terms of finance, academics and emotion. Now, I am a second year Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science student at the University for Development Studies (UDS) in Ghana, with a dream of becoming a Medical Laboratory Scientist in order to help improve the health of the people of my community and Ghana through the diagnosis and research into health-related issues. EPI is really helping me to acquire the skills and knowledge I would need to realize my dream.
Through the financial support I receive, I obtain every single item concerning my education the requires ‘money’ with much ease. Now, I worry no more about funds to pay my school fees or keep me on campus when school resumes. Through this wonderful intervention of EPI, I have a peaceful mind to focus fully on my academic and extracurricular activities. Also, a very huge financial stress has been released from the shoulders of my family.
During the lockdown period of the Covid-19 pandemic, where all educational institutions were closed and forced to complete the 2019/2020 academic year online, I easily accessed all my online sessions of my studies without paying any extra fees to internet cafés because I had my laptop and other devices which I bought with the funds of EPI scholarship. Hence, all I had to do was to purchase my internet data bundle.
In my stay on campus, I depend absolutely on the financial grant I receive from the EPI scholarship for my accommodation, clothing, and feeding. As a matter of facts, I never imagined a gifted student of my kind, who belongs to a family of peasant farmers with six siblings could have such a smooth condition in my tertiary education but EPI has made this ‘life in the movies’ real to me. I therefore, would use this opportunity to express my immense gratitude to the Educational Pathways International and advocate for donations to help EPI transform the lives of many other gifted but needy students in my country.

Educational Pathways International (EPI) is a non-governmental Organization that provides scholarship to gifted and needy university students in Ghana to enable them go through their tertiary education successfully and develop their talents to make impact on their societies and the nation as a whole. EPI currently offer full scholarship to gifted and needy Ghanaian students in some of the public universities in Ghana, University for Development Studies (UDS), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and the University of Ghana (Legon).

As a first year student and a beneficiary of this scholarship, I would like to express the impacts of this scholarship. From the financial support I received, I was able to pay my school fees and accommodation fees, acquire the necessary books I need for my studies with much ease and stipend for my upkeep on campus. As a result, my parents and I do not worry about fees anymore. A huge burden has been taken away from the shoulders of my parent and now, I have a sound mind to study and develop my numerous talents. Besides, I have been able to afford a laptop which I never had until I was granted the EPI scholarship, and has made my studies and building of my ICT skills easier.

The mentorship aspect of the scholarship is widening my scope of thinking about tertiary education and life as a whole. I have realized that, being at the tertiary level of education goes beyond academic work but every aspect needed to improve one’s way of life and hence I must work harder. Many are other benefits I enjoy from EPI scholarship but cannot tell all because of time.

With this opportunity, I say a very big thank you to the founders and management of Educational Pathways International and I really appreciate their effort to improve the socio-economic status of Ghana by helping to educate gifted and needy young Ghanaian university students.

I would also like to beseech all non-governmental organizations and philanthropists who would have the opportunity to read this review that, there are many gifted and needy children in the numerous rural areas in Ghana and Africa who need their interventions in order to climb their education lather.
