Review for Umbrella of the Capital District, Inc., Schenectady, NY, USA
This is my 4th review for Umbrella over the last 12 + years. I am only too pleased to share our story.
My husband retired from his second "job" in 20o5. He needed something to keep him active and earn him some pin money . He joined Umbrella after hearing Ron Byrne speak at our local Neighborhood Association meeting.
Over the years, he worked as a handyman and has made made many seniors more comfortable in their homes. He assisted them with tasks they could no longer do. He loved every minute of it.
I , too, volunteered in the office for a while and did phone work from home for Umbrella until I had health issues.
At the present time, my husband's health is keeping him from participating doing the tasks that he could once do with ease.
We find we now need assistance from Umbrella workers. I have a cleaning lady and she takes a big load off my shoulders. We will need someone to help with snow blowing the driveway this winter. Maybe other tasks.
Our son who is retired joined Umbrella as a handyman last year. He enjoys helping the seniors and earning some money at the same time. He goes skiing out West for 3 months in the Winter so he enjoys the Spring, Summer & Fall working for Umbrella. Working with Umbrella gives him the outlet for "can't sit still" nature.
Now if the "second generation" thinks Umbrella is a good idea, you know it must be.
Umbrella personnel can be trusted to find solutions for you. They have emergency plans in place when something out of the ordinary comes up for the senior.
So whether you are a senior needing help or person looking for a job that is rewarding and part time, Umbrella fits the bill.
The Greatest Generation is being served well by Umbrella of the Capital District, Inc.

My husband has been working with Umbrella since about 2005. This organization truly addresses the needs of the senior homeowners in our area. All workers are checked out regarding background through the local police department and references obtained.
Ron Byrne and his staff run a tight ship. They keep track of what is going on. Any complaints are settled to the customer's satisfaction.
Umbrella assists in making some of the less fortunate people in the community have a nicer Christmas through their gift giving.
For all the seniors out there that need a helping hand Umbrella is the answer.
Please look into it for yourself or your parents. It's one of the best kept secrets of the Capital District.

My husband has been an Volunteer for many years now. He enjoys helping the people. He no longer does the "heavy lifting" leaving it to the younger volunteers. However, he does perform many services that the clients need. This work with Umbrella keeps him active physically and mentally. He also earns some compensation at $15 per hour paid by the client. The staff at Umbrella are excellent.
As a wife of an Umbrella volunteer, I have seen what an impact the organization has had on the Community. It
enables the people aging to stay in their home. I, myself, have a house cleaning person from Umbrella. She does an excellent job and very pleasant and personable.
We have recommended Umbrella's services to many people who had not known they even existed. The word
has gotten out and more people know of Umbrella the last few years. I have never heard of anyone dissatisfied
with their services from the people we pointed in their direction.
Umbrella is a GREAT organization!!
Review for Umbrella of the Capital District, Inc., Schenectady, NY, USA
After my husband became involved as a handyperson with Umbrella of the Captial District, I learned the full extent of their services and the impact on the senior community in the area. I volunteered to do survey calls to the members in regard to customer satisfaction. By doing the survey calls, it could be determined what, if any, negative thoughts the members had and how Umbrella personnel could correct them. In all honesty, in conducting my survey calls, there is a very small per centage of negativeness presented. The members do present good positive re-enforcement. They also submit positive suggestions to make the services even better than they are. I wish every community had an organization like Umbrella of the Capital District to serve their area. Umbrella of the Capital District gives the senior residents peace of mind that they can face the challenges that arise from aging and staying in their own homes.
