Review for Chewonki Foundation Inc, Wiscasset, ME, USA
My husband and I have known CHewonki for over 30 years.... it has always been at the forefront of envirnomental activity- creating a green campus, instilling a love of the natural world in young people, "walking the talk" - doing what's at the cutting edge of green living. Most important... CHewonki creates a living heritage in all the young people for whom it provides a love of the environment, and a deep understanding of the connection between our natural world and human impact.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
the leadership that Chewonki has within state and national organizations related to the environment.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
keep doing all that Chewonki has been doing for the last 75 years... they have a visionary staff and board of trustees... I would have complete faith in these folks to take Chewonki to the next step of environmental education and green living.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the way I've seen Chewonki instill a love of nature and respect for the interplay between humans and the natural world in my son and other young people
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
excellent! There is not a better environmental education and wilderness staff anywhere!
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
bring its' message to other non-profits, provide financial aide to many deserving children and young people, help to create the next generation of advocates for the environment.
Ways to make it better...
CHewonki has additional financial resources to do all that it would like to do.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
financial. Non profits always live within a slim margin. CHewonki has done an excellent stewardship of endowments but could certainly use more.
One thing I'd also say is that...
Chewonki is a national and state (and international) leader in environmental education, awareness, and responsibility. It doesn't get any better than this!
