Review for Episcopal Communities Foundation, Inc. dba Episcopal Place, Birmingham, AL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I first became affiliated with Episcopal Housing as a participant in their annual fundraiser, the Gumbo Gala of Birmingham. It was during that cooking competition that I was struck by the passion and energy of all the workers and volunteers associated with this great institution. Having dealt with elder and special needs care in my own family, I immediately recognized the special impact that truly dedicated individuals can have on the lives of those in their care, and the effects on the residents who enjoyed the festivities that day was evident. Making a difference, a true difference, in the lives of seniors and special needs folks takes a dedication you cannot buy or hire out. That sort of motivation has to come from within, and Episcopal Place has done as good a job as I've ever seen in attracting the type of people who express true love and devotion through their service. They are not employees, they are extended family members to the residents, and as a result the residents enjoy the highest quality of life possible. This is truly one of the special places, and deserves recognition as such.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Through my interaction with the residents, I have personally seen and heard the impact that truly loving care can make on the lives of those who too often feel neglected or overlooked. In turn, that love is paid forward amongst the residents so that a true sense of community is fostered, and where other similar facilities might provide a residence the Episcopal Place has succeeded in providing a home.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I wish their outreach could be expanded. There are others that could benefit from the special community that the Episcopal Place has built, and with proper funding I would like to see that community expanded so that those benefits could be extended to everyone who so richly deserves them.
