I work managing a comic shop that pays me as well as they can, but living in Los Angeles is expensive. When my partner's diabetes affected his kidneys enough to require dialysis, his ability to work was diminished to the point that there was no way we could pay our rent on just my salary alone. BINC paid for our rent for a couple months which is long enough for my partner's disability payments to be processed. When they told me we qualified, I had to step off the sales floor and I cried. It was such a relief. Thank you, BINC. Thank you, Kit and Pam, for taking care of this so quickly and without any judgment. Charity is hard to ask for, but never once did they make me feel ashamed or embarrassed that we were in need.
