Review for The Gow School, South Wales, NY, USA
Our son was diagnosed with Dyslexia in 2001, while attending a private school. Although he had a learning difference he was not far behind his peers. However, when we had to move on military orders and the only schools local were public schools, this is when his learning disability went from mild to severe. The gap between him and his peers grew, because the public was unable to teach him in the way he needed to learn. There process of teaching is one size fits all. Having spent years advocating for our son and getting no where in the public system. We removed our son and enrolled him in the Gow School. This is our sons first year at the Gow School. In six weeks our son has changed for the better. Even though he is away from home, he is with boys that have smiliar disabilities. he is learning to read, write essays. They are preparing him for college, teaching them to advocate for themselves. He likes all the teachers and staff. Has made some many new friends. We are a very close family, and i thought it would be hard to send him to boarding school. But after seeing how happy he is, and how positive he is again about learning and going to school. We know this is the best place for in, because the Gow School is giving him his choices in life again. While the public schools was reducing them by not teaching him to read and write. There should be more Gow Schools nationwide. Parent of a student attending the Gow School Penny M
