I applied to the Borgen Project to gain professional experience in management and be a part of good in society .
Borgen project is a non-profit organization focusing on the global poverty crisis. Two significant aspects of this highly competitive (only 5% of the candidates are selected) internship are the HR perspective and spreading awareness about the poverty crisis.
As part of the HR team, I updated the job openings at the Borgen project, reviewed
candidates’ online assessment, and gave feedback on the candidates hiring decisions. I also spread awareness in and around my locality by campaigning about various poverty reduction initiatives at the Borgen project and especially about International Affairs Budget (funds allocated towards tackling global poverty).
Few highlights(refer Sep & Oct ’19) during my internship are:

Successfully ran a Fundraising campaign towards the global poverty crisis and raised about $750 where the target is $500
Got the bird dog award ( https://borgenteam.org/honors-and-recognition/ ) for reaching out and lobbying congresswomen Rep. Pramila Jayapal and Sen. Patty Murray in favor of allocating more funds towards the International Affairs budget, thereby helping millions of people around World.

I agree that Fundraising, lobbying, campaigning are difficult task during internship particularly fundraising if you are students when you are financially dependant on others,
I must admit these difficult task teaches you valuable life lessons
and proves your commitment to internship to future jobs.
My manager Kelly was incredibly supportive throughout the program and gave candid feedback on my performance during the program.
