I can't say enough good things about Save the Whales. Maris is always on my mind as I struggle to find my place in the science world. My experience with Save the Whales is the most professional and exciting experience I have ever had, and I am realizing more and more that watershed science and ocean advocacy will always be my greatest passion.

I started with Maris as a volunteer in 2016 as part of my service learning requirement at CSUMB. After working with Save the Whales for one semester, I was hired as an outreach intern. This was the first real job I had in the sciences and it launched my career in ways I never could have imagined.

My three years with Save the Whales gave me the experience necessary to teach an undergraduate Biology course at a California State University. It has also opened opportunities to work with state and federal agencies to preserve our watersheds and marine habitats. Most importantly, however, it allowed me to serve my community by making science more accessible and advocating for our marine friends.
