Review for Sanctuary One, Jacksonville, OR, USA
I started as a volunteer at Sanctuary One in the spring of 2018. During my first visit to the farm at the volunteer orientation I realized what an amazing place this was and immediately wanted to be even more involved. I felt drawn to this place with it's tranquil setting and mission to help people, animals and the earth. When a job opportunity presented itself a couple of months later I quickly applied. I began my job as an Animal Care Assistant that summer and loved every minute of it. A year and a half later I am now the Office Manager & Adoption Coordinator. I love being a part of this amazing team of staff and volunteers that make a difference in the lives of people and animals alike. I've gotten to meet and work with a myriad of wonderful people who I would have otherwise never had the chance to spend time with. Along with volunteer and staff member, last year I added adopter to my list of roles at Sanctuary One. I adopted a sweet Nigerian Dwarf goat named Ellie. She had been transferred to Sanctuary One from another rescue and unbeknownst to anyone at the time, she had become pregnant before being left tied to the gate of the other rescue. Having two other Nigerian Dwarfs who were about the same age and size as her, she was a perfect addition to our family. After realizing that Ellie was pregnant, I made sure that we were ready for the arrival of her little ones and kept a very close eye on her for signs of labor, eagerly waiting to meet her kids. A short while after her adoption, Ellie gave birth to two beautiful boys. Now, almost a year old, I can't imagine our little herd without them. The three of them have such a wonderful, close bond and will happily live their lives together along with my other darling animals, being spoiled and loved endlessly. I'm so thankful for everything that I have experienced, learned and gained from being a part of Sanctuary One.
