I was member of a delegation of 9 students and 2 teachers from Purcell Marian High School in Cincinnati that spent a week helping the 45 families of Agualongo install a drainage system for the community soccer field and perform road maintenance. We worked side-by-side with the children, moms, dads, and grandparents to complete the projects they had identified for their community. It was an experience that changed the lives of our students. The Tandana Staff was great to work with; they provided an orientation that introduced us to the culture, traditions and history of our host community and connected us with families who welcomed us into their homes. When the Boeing 737 Max was grounded, the Tandana Staff did not "skip a beat" in arranging housing, meals and activities for the extra 3 days. A year later students express a desire to return to spend time with their Ecuadorian brothers and sisters.
