Review for Jerusalem Peacebuilders, Milford, CT, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Jerusalem Peacebuilders has forever changed my life and the way I view it. In 2017 I attended the Serve Learning Program in New Haven, and I’ve experienced one of the most impactful events which tought me how when we break down the barriers and stereotypes in our heads, we can first reach inner peace- then peace with others. Meeting people your age yet with totally different backgrounds, ideologies, stories and perspectives, yet still all striving for the same goal: understanding the conflict and reaching a common ground- teaches you many important things. The most impactful learnings you gain are (in my opinion):
1.Fixing any conflict starts with the two sides addressing the problem with an open mind.
2. Hearing the personal stories of the people on the other side of the conflict is necessary in order to empathize with their situation just like they are supposed to do with your stories.
3.Realizing that a perfect solution might not pop up so start working on being the solution yourself, step by step.
4.Preparing the next generation for an open mind and for the will to change the negative status quo is the key to a better future.
5. We are all humans in the end who seek peace of mind and a comfortable life, so we should pursue that in an open mind and empathy.
Jerusalem Peacebuilders is indeed a wonderful program that prepares young generations to become leaders for a better future.
