Review for Cambodian Children's Fund, Santa Monica, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I first learned of CCF after watching Australian Story which was about CCF's founder - Scott Neeson - and have recently returned to Australia after a 4 month volunteer position, as Buddy Teacher, at CCF's Rice Academy.
What an amazing organisation, to say the least. As a volunteer I was given all of the help and advice necessary to make my stay as smooth sailing as possible.
From recommendations of where to eat, have my hair cut, have photos printed, buy whatever I needed, to being taken out on a cultural evening and invitations to other CCF activities, all of my needs were met.
I worked at The Rice Academy with a team of young, amazing, dedicated and caring English and Maths teachers who made me feel very welcome and useful. The children came to school every day with the warmest of smiles and made me smile every single day. CCF cares not only for the children but for the wider community too. It is an holistic organisation with many programmes such as the Granny programme, Thoms' shoes, Food programme, Leadership programme and a Medical Centre to name a few. The children's well being is first and foremost. I feel blessed to have spent time with the staff and families of CCF and hope to return in the not too distant future.
