Selene, my fluffy, grey, Princess, Spazmata of Joy:
My little bundle of sunshine needs her own tiara, I spoil her so. She's more than a pet, she's a friend. She's also a brat, but she's an only child now so it's kind of expected.
Selene loves to run around outside in her cattery, fenced-in yard and do her zoomies outside, up a tree and jumping out at me when I walk by. She gets her belly rubs, soft food and Fiji water and she's a happy brat.
One day, my beautiful girl was listless. She didn't want to move much, I couldn't get her to eat or drink. She was usually demanding to go out at 4 am, doing the zoomies and the breakfast. Living paycheck to paycheck, barely, doesn't leave room for emergencies. When you can't take care of your loved ones it's a terrible feeling. It's even worse when none of the Vets will help without cash being paid upfront. I understand why they do it, but it still adds to the desperation of, 'won't someone please help her?' I started calling shelters, Vets, charities, people who have grants for low-income people. Having a bad credit report can leave you homeless and suddenly in a place where you are losing someone you love because you can't afford their care.
PAWS Bainbridge Island saved my cat with its grant program. They called back super fast and it wasn't a day the PAWS building wasn't even open. They had already messaged the Vet and that meant I could take her right then when I found out. I rushed her there and was very lucky and will be eternally grateful to PAWS. They are in the business of helping animals and people and that's what they do. They're real heroes in my opinion.
Thank you PAWS BI!
