Kids Kicking Cancer is an amazing organization. They have welcomed me and my family with opened arms. We have learned how to use “Power Breathing” in our daily lives. My daughter uses it before taking exams, before performing in her band concerts, and she’s even showed others the benefits of using “Power Breathing” in their lives.

Kids Kicking Cancer’s parents program is also amazing. It nice to gather with other parents who share similar experiences. Sometimes we may laugh, sometimes we may cry, but we always have a good time.

My name is Kenyetta and on March 25, 2019, I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of non-Hodgkins lymphoma. My oncologist explained that chemo needed to be started immediately.

Many questions ran across my mind. How could I have cancer? I was only 39yrs old! What about my daughter? She was only seven! I was her primary caregiver. Can I afford the treatments? What about work?

Unfortunately I had to stop working and take a LOA due to the side effects of chemo. This experience has been draining physically, mentally and financially. Who knew nine months later I would still be fighting this horrible disease.

After many sleepless nights were spent worried about how I was going to pay bills and buy groceries, I finally reached out for help. The social worker told me about New Day Foundation and helped me submit an application.

New Day Foundation was going to help with rent and COBRA premium payments. I only had $0.38 in my bank account when Chrissie called to tell me the good news. Because of their generosity, I am now able to focus on my health without worrying about how I’m going to feed my daughter. I hope once this is all over I will be able to assist another patient in a similar way.
