Review for Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation, Wexford, PA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I am a 17 year Sudden Cardiac Arrest Survivor, two time rescuer of SCA victims and current Chair of the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation (SCAF) Board of Directors.

The SCAF is a tremendous landing place for SCA survivors, co- survivors, lay rescuers and advocates. The SCAF website has many resources relating to SCA survival, including education, research and a vibrant Survivor Online program housed within our Cardiac Arrest Suvivor Alliance program. The Foundation strives to raise awarness of Sudden Cardiac Arrest and supports programs which give ordinary citizens the power to save a life. The SCAF is celebrating its 20 year Anniversarly and never gives up striving to save lives!!

The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation (SCAF) is the go to organization for the latest information on Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) in terms of research, awareness and education. This year an eclectic online community within the SCAF umbrella, named the Cardiac Arrest Survival Alliance (CASA) was created for SCA suvivors, Co-Survivors, SCA rescuers, critical care providers, researchers and SCA advocates. This vibrant community is a place for community members to interact with other survivors and share stories of their SCA survival journey. Webinars on various topics relating to SCA survival are offered monthly by SCA researchers, suvivors and co-survivors.

As a 15 year SCA survivor the SCAF has provided immense support for myself, my wife and family. Additionally the SCAF is a great resource for the latest research and news events relating to Sudden Cardiac Arrest. I am proud to serve as a SCAF Board member the past 5 years and currently serve as the Vice Chair of the Foundation.

The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation (SCAF) is the leading non-profit for bringing together Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) survivors, families, super heroes and the EMS community. I am proud to serve on the Board of Directors of the Foundation with a group of Board members who are passionate, dedicated and hard working.

As a survivor of SCA and a rescuer of two SCA victims I saved with CPR, I have first hand experience with SCA recovery for both myself, my family and other SCA survivors. SCA kills over 360,000 Americans per year and the W.H.O. recently predicted that SCA will be the #1 killer in the world by the end of 2020. Through Education/SCA Awareness, Research and Community Outreach, the SCAF envisions to save all SCA victims which can be saved.

The SCAF Board and a group of fantastic volunteers work in harmony with numerous organizations in the SCA arena to stress learning CPR and placing AED's in as many public settings as possible, with the long term goal of improving SCA survival outcomes throughout the USA.

As a survivor of SCA 11 years ago and having utilized CPR to save two SCA victims lives, I am indebted to the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation for its tireless work to promote education relating to SCA, supporting SCA survivors and family members and for giving all surivivors and families a voice in saving lives. I was honored to join the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Board of Directors 1.5 years ago. I believe the Board is giving me and other survivors, an avenue to change the culture of performing CPR and using an AED on SCA victims and insuring that Sudden Cardiac Arrest as the number 1 killer in the USA, becomes a "household" word.
