Review for Foundation for Sustainable Development, Oakland, CA, USA
I was a volunteer with FSD in Bolivia in 2006. The org does a good job connecting 1st World folks with local non-profits in developing countries. They use their resources efficiently. Placement with local non-profits may boost traction with communities.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
integrating 'Westerners' into legitament local roles.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
subcontract to USAID to make things more financialy sustainable.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the flexibility to get off the beaten path.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
young, creative, and adventurous.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
employ more highly qualified in-country coordinators.
Ways to make it better...
more pre-placement project development was organized.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
providing high-quality development services to developing countries with limited funding to employ qualified staff.
