Review for Brain Injury Services Of Swva, Roanoke, VA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

In my 4+ yrs of association with Brain Injury Services of SWVA, I have witnessed wonderful changes to those with brain injuries who are living fuller lives because of the services provided by this organization. No only do they provide free case management, but they work diligently to present opportunities for job training and (re)learning life skills to foster a more self-reliant lifestyle. Additional programs such as music therapy and recreational therapy have also been fostered in connection with BIS SWVA.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the innovated ways that they reach out to clients. In a predominantly rural area, it is difficult for clients to get around. The case managers meet with clients in their homes, if needed, and a program to reach clients via the internet is being tested.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

provide them with more resources to continue making a difference for more people (reducing their waiting list).

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

they put all thier efforts and money into helping those with brain injuries build better lives for themselves and their families.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Extrememly helpful (and prone to working more hours than they get paid for to help their clients and promote awareness).

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

put all their efforts into helping others rather than looking/appling for funding. They would also be able to explore new ways of helping rural populations that could spill over to other services.

Ways to make it better...

n/a

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

funding.

One thing I'd also say is that...

BIS SWVA is a great organization that provides services that are greatly needed.
