My first trip to Uganda to visit KSVS was last Mach 2018. It was a dream come true because I had a vision to serve years ago and did not quite know where to start. Barb .R made it easy by talking to me about going to Uganda. God answered my prayers. I was so excited to go to Uganda with her. I felt the need to reach out to the children in Africa. It was my way of giving back to Africa. Being from Africa myself , I was privileged to come to Amrica and I learned so much that I could use to impact others.
So I went to Uganda with a plan to teach and I was blown away by the investment done in KSVS. I was inspired by the initiative of Pastor John. M. As I always tell him , it takes a special person to create a vision, a future, and opportunities to a community like that.
From the first day at KSVS to the last day , we were surrounded by a lot of love, joy and gratefulness from the children and teachers. They were so full of energy. We had hugs everywhere we went. It was unbelievable to think how many miles some of those kids walk to come school, but they were very happy and eager to learn. Very impressive.
I spent some times with Girls and we were able to discuss some sensitive topics and they responded very well.
Being at KSVS and meeting the Girls gave me the opportunity to teach, to mentor ,and to impact. I felt a sense of fulfilment. I felt in love of my little Girl (my sponsor child) and knowing that I am part of life or reading her letters bring tears into my eyes all the time. God is faithful. My life and my story made sense . I understand why I had to work hard, why I had to fight, why I had to stay focus, why I had to get back up each time I felt. For sure God had a plan. He was preparing me for this journey and i am ready to walk through that part with him.
I was blessed with a great team and we had a lot of fun. We are going back next Febuary and I encourage others to come with us. That trip changed my life .
