I have been volunteering at PRTR since 2017. What a giving, caring place it is! Though I didn’t have any experience with horses when I first joined, the instructors gave me the training I needed to assist in supporting the client riders and to perform horse grooming tasks. Other volunteers, with far more horse experience than I, helped me understand how to communicate with the horses and built my confidence to ensure the safety of our riders. Working as a volunteer to help our riders warms my heart as I have the joy of seeing each rider’s success as they grow with the therapeutic skills our instructors provide. PRTR has many different types of opportunities for people to apply their skills and knowledge, including technical skills, marketing/communication skills, and fundraising events, to name a few that I have been able to support. The instructors, the volunteers, and the community as a whole have made my transition to Colorado and the western US so welcoming!
