Review for Pasado's Safe Haven, Sultan, WA, USA
I started volunteering at Pasado's after searching for a way to become involved in animal welfare. I could never have imagined how formative the experience would be. Pasado's Safe Haven truly embodies the concept of a safe haven - it is so evident that each caregiver, staff member, and volunteer there wants nothing more than to make sure all of the animals experience the care, attention, and love they deserve. The amount of work Pasado's does in communities speaks volumes of the commitment to their mission statement and values. Knowing Pasado's Safe Haven exists to stand against the cruelties animals experience, and to address not only the symptoms but the causes of that reality, is inspiring and comforting. I was constantly amazed by how helpful caregivers were to volunteers - I truly felt like my time was appreciated and I was able to learn things about animal welfare and specific animal behaviors because the caregivers were willing to answer my questions and even show me things they thought I might be interested in. The most important part of Pasado's- the reason the sanctuary is so special - is because each animal is considered an individual and that is so apparent in how the caregivers treat them and the amount of time and effort expended on each one. Volunteering at Pasado's was a highlight of my week each time- it felt like a sanctuary for the people as well!
