I joined Outreach International in September 2016. This organization has been a blessing to my life. I am now a change agent, of my life first, and of countless lives in the community where I am assigned and beyond.
Now I can deny myself and embrace all that can add value to my life through the Process of Participatory Human Development. Humbling myself and forgetting my degrees and the honors of my previous career, I have developed a passion for the less privileged in society. I chose to be among and work with the poor (whom I don’t really consider poor because of their rich culture, native intelligence, civility and wisdom), and Outreach International gave me the venue.
Day by day I see how the Mapande community is changing and transforming from a community of illiterate people in their majority to a new community of people with formal education; people of all ages. Children, youth, adults and old people are happy to work hand in hand to overcome their illiteracy situation, and also to grow more vegetables and store enough food, access safe clean water, end child marriages, improve nutrition using indigenous crops, improve sanitation and hygiene, and become ‘visible’ to both customary and civil authorities.
Outreach International delivers sustainable, long lasting results for both the beneficiaries and the donors. I have been privileged to work for Outreach International for over 3 years now, facilitating and witnessing this kind of development. I can testify to it. I shall continue supporting this work wherever I will be. Thank you.
