Hochstein is a remarkable place for people of all ages and economic status to learn music and dance. It has the widest range of opportunities from individual instruction to large orchestras and choirs. The instructors are very dedicated to their students, and the quality of the instructors is routinely cited as the main strength of Hochstein. In addition, Hochstein is very involved in the community with many educational and governmental partners, to make music education available to under served people in the Rochester area. I am very proud to have been associated with Hochstein for many years.

Hochstein is dedicated to providing music and dance training to the full Rochester community, regardless of age, level of talent or ability to pay for lessons. Hochstein is vibrant and unique in America with its wide range of offerings including single lessons, and small and large ensembles. Hochstein also provides music, dance and art therapy for many individuals with special needs. Its faculty is constantly praised by students and parents alike. A special mission of Hochstein is that a large number students are able to attend classes because of financial assistance provided by the school . Hochstein also partners with the City of Rochester, City School District and other organizations to bring music instruction to city kids in their neighborhoods. Created and named in the memory of David Hochstein, a brilliant violinist who was killed in World War I, the school will celebrate its 100th anniversary next year. Hochstein faces the challenges of other non-profits in delivering its services and fulfilling its mission, and deserves to be supported by all who value education in the arts for everyone.
