I have worked in a local school district for over 20 years. I have worked with elementary and high school students. The assistance league has been a major source of support and resources for the students at each of the levels! They provided much needed clothing and school supplies and recently have been providing emergency packs for the homeless students with whom I work! The thing that makes this organization stand out from others is their attention on the emotional health of students and not just the physical needs. For example, the elementary level students do not just get school clothes, they get a one on one shopping experience with a personal shopper. They are pamper and giving an exciting outing. Recently I was worked with the organizers of the homeless packs for high schoolers. This group took time to find out what students at my school wanted in clothing and not just what they needed. They looked for items that were extra soft or warm that would give comfort and not just coverage. For many of our students, they are not only in need of items, they are in need of care and kindness. ALKC provides both in abundance!
