Review for Pet Project for Pets, Inc., Wilton Manors, FL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

There is no other pet-centric non-profit offering so much support to the community in the South Florida area. Here to support pets and their disabled, ill or aging owners in danger of having to relinquish their beloved companions, the Pet Project for Pets, under the leadership of Sue Martino, steps in and saves the day for many a sad and hungry pet.

Now more than ever, the Pet Project for Pets fills an ever widening void that swallows up the doomed pets of owners who are unable to feed them, pay for their veterinary care, keep up their vaccinations, and save their lives once they become ill or injured. The damage to the disabled, ill or elderly owners' spirit from watching their pet go hungry, suffer from illness or lack of routine medical maintenance, from having to say goodbye to a long time companion knowing fully well that their beloved pet most likely will be euthanized, is only equaled by the suffering of the companion animal sensing what is coming.

Hundreds of thousands of animals are neglected, abandoned, hurt or surrendered for termination throughout the country and all over the world. Sue Martino and her team steps in with the Pet Project for Pets and saves whomever can be reached and who comes to the door. The Pet Project for Pets and its team delivers solutions where others merely mouth their outrage yet do nothing.

The Pet Project will feed the pets at risk and help keep them safely at home, providing desperately needed pet support for the aged, unemployed, indigent, ill and disabled members of our community who are trying to hold on to the only companions they have, in many instances. They may have rescued the pet themselves, trying to offer help in turn. If there were a Pet Project for Pets in every town, thousands of pets would be at home, loved and fed, taken care of and allowed to bring continued happiness to their owners, not having to be given up and killed. Those that care would have a place to go and contribute their help.

The head count of pets being taken care of by the Pet Project for Pets grows daily. The need is great and the Pet Project turns no one away who is in dire straits with their pet. The reach of the Pet Project's helping hand into the community does not stop here. Free or almost free pet food and pet supplies are offered to many local animal rescues and TNR (trap neuter release) participants. Free spay/neuters and vacinations are facilitated. Ill pets are referred to participating discounted veterinarians. Through this outreach to other rescues so many more passionate animal advocates are empowered to be effective and not disheartened when facing the incredible need they encounter.

There is also a busy thrift shop, Hidden Treasures, where anyone in the community can bring donations, which are then offered to the public for sale at reasonable prices, creating yet more benefits for the community at large. All proceeds go to feed the animals.

Sue Martino of the Pet Project for Pets is a brilliant leader of a group of dedicated donors, board members, volunteers and program participants, who share the common purpose and goal to alleviate the suffering and untimely demise of our animal companions, who just want to be by our side throughout their lives and ours. There is not one of us here at the Pet Project for Pets who does not have animal companions we love and cherish. The mental and health benefits of being lucky enough to have a companion pet are numerous and significant. The purring of a cat can lower blood pressure. Petting a pet can relieve stress and loneliness. One learns what unconditional love and loyalty feels like, allowing one's heart to open and outflow the same. We benefit as much from living with pets as they do.

Sue Martino and her group of volunteers, donors and co-creators of the Pet Project for Pets have the talent and dedication to take the Pet Project much further yet in its impact on the community at large and with each and every new endangered animal they are able to reach.

I am a volunteer at the Pet Project for Pets in Fort Lauderdale, Fl, formerly a client with disabled animals I tried to save but could not keep without their help. Every day when I see my pets little faces, I think of what the Pet Project for Pets has done for them and myself, and I say my heartfelt thanks for all they do for my little family and so many others in need.

If you resonate with our cause, please donate, volunteer or if you are in South Florida, come by the thrift shop, or just stop by to meet us. Or reach out so we can help. Thank you.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Put a Pet Project for Pets in every town.
