We had been looking for a dog for about a year. It seemed the ones that were listed out of state would not let us adopt because we lived “out of state”! Silly, but we soldiered on. I saw our CiCi’s picture and she melted my heart. However, she was located about 3 hours away and of course in another state.

I applied anyway. Kathy called me the next day and did a lengthy phone interview. She asked if we were willing to come to her sanctuary. Of course we were. A few days later, my husband & I drove to meet CiCi. She was amazingly excited to meet us. We took her for a walk and chatted for awhile with Kathy. We were instantly in love with that little girl. She didn’t have any hair from the middle of her back to her tail. She had been infested with fleas and scratched and chewed herself until NJ Aid for Animals came to her rescue. Cathy said they weren’t sure if she had been spade, so we would need to wait until she was checked and about a 10 day recuperating time, therefore we would need to come back to adopt her. No problem with that! We would have gone to the moon to get her!

On November 4, 2017 we adopted our adorable little girl and she has brought us nothing but joy!

We have Kathy McGuire and her wonderful organization to thank! We also want to thank Eileen Boyle for fostering CiCi during recovery from surgery! The people and this organization are angels! They not only rescue animals but they check on their well being after the adoption is complete. We still get messages from Kathy asking about our little girl! That’s amazing!
