Review for Tee It Up for the Troops Inc, Burnsville, MN, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I've been around Tee It Up for the Troops event for going on nine years now. The passion I see from the hundreds of volunteers involved is inspiring. And then you include the small group of national office employees and it gets better.

The result of the efforts put out this combination of teams has had dramatic impacts on veterans and military family members across the country. Whether is related to PTSD, TBI, veteran homelessness, post-service career assistance, etc.

I’ve been involved with Tee It Up the Troops for over eight years. I have seen first hand how their events have honored many veterans from the WWII era through today’s younger veterans. I have seen first hand the heart-felt recognition of Gold Star family members.

I have been able to meet with many of their partners that they fund and that provide a wide variety of service/support to veterans, their families as well as current military. Groups that work to eliminate homelessness among veterans. Groups that provide residential “bed and breakfast” facilities for families visiting service members being cared for at VA or military hospitals. I’ve met groups that manage and staff airport lounge facilities for traveling service members, their families and retired veterans. On a 24x7 basis. As well those that provide different styles of therapy for service members/veterans suffering from PTS or TBI. One offer therapy horse back riding another offering an art based therapy approach.

Smaller local groups that collect and distribute gifts to military children during the holiday season at year-end. Or host local lunches or dinners for veterans. Some that offer career and interviewing coaching as well as employer networking.

There is more, suffice it to say that very few veteran focused non-profits have a broader reach or impact. And given the high level of volunteer involvement they do it in a incredible level of financial efficiency.
