Review for Cape Fear Raptor Center, Inc., Rocky Point, NC, USA
I have been volunteering at Cape Fear Raptor Center, Inc. for the last 8 years. I originally started at the center not only because I love wildlife and wanted to give back, but also because I was terrified of birds and wanted to overcome that. Our Raptors helped me break that fear. They showed me how incredible birds of prey are and how important they are to keeping a healthy, balanced ecosystem. The volunteers at CFRC work really hard to teach these lessons to the public. They are kind, compassionate, hardworking, and knowledgeable. They live by our mission statement of working to conserve, educate, and rehabilitate. Our birds wouldn't have had a second chance at life without them. The public also loves them because they make it their mission to go to events and create experiences so the public can be educated on the importance of raptors in our environment.
This year I took on a larger role at the center as their writing and social media Intern. I wanted to give back more to the place that has gifted me with so much. I help write grants, education programs, run our social media platforms and photograph our birds. The Center has become such a huge part of my life and is loved by our community. They are an important pillar in the community and continue to be through education, conservation, and rehabilitation. This is a places of second chances.
