I'm a biologist who's worked in the Bay Area conservation world for 20 years. There's never been a publication here like Bay Nature, and we're so lucky they exist. People love the nature of the Bay Area, but when Bay Nature came along, we realized how much we had needed a much better guide to it. I love how Bay Nature combines gorgeous photography, imaginative art, and technical rigor to invite people in to a deeper knowledge about this place. This is how people actually become connected to the natural world: through both beauty and fascination. I'm also impressed with the creative angles the writers take. For example, not just another article on sea level rise, but one on rising groundwater levels. Not another article about being a better bird observer, but one about "napping with birds"! Giving tarantulas the same attention as otters. Hooray for Bay Nature!
