I am one of the co-founders of Health Horizons and am incredibly pleased that we are celebrating our 10th anniversary this year. HHI has grown from essentially a "mom and pop" operation to a well respected NGO partnered with the Dominican Ministry of Public Health and the World Diabetes Foundation. Personally, I am gratified to see the changes in our patients who have gone from the paternalistic system to which they were accustomed in which they were used to just doing what they told and asking no questions. They are now full participants in their care and have benefited greatly from it.
