I believe mightily in the mission of Mittens for Detroit. I have seen firsthand and up close the difference that MFD makes in communities and in individual's lives. I have watched the pure joy, the intense gratitude and simple relief in the eyes of little school children, teenagers, senior citizens and veterans when they are handed a brand new warm pair of gloves or mittens as they face another frigid Michigan winter. It may seem small to some people but when they slip on those cozy and warm gloves their faces light up. To see those genuine heartfelt smiles in person, changed me. I wish anyone who is deeply touched by helping people in need, would join the Mittens for Detroit team by increasing the quantity of those smiles and those warmed hands in the Detroit community.

In the clamour of charities after they all have gone through the trying years of the pandemic, it is the small but just as important charities who struggle to receive help so that their missions can continue. I deeply hope that the Metro Detroit community and individuals who are in a position to help donate to this worthy cause continue to do so and I hope that new people are made aware of this small but mighty non-profit that I'm proud to be a part of.

I have been a volunteer for 7 years for Mittens for Detroit. There is no more heartwarming feeling than handing a pair of new warm gloves to a school child and gazing on the look of their face. It amazes me how such a small, under the radar non-profit can continue their important work without the generosity of a loyal deep-pocket donors who believes in them. I marvel at the thought of what they could achieve if a wealthy and benevolent hero were to adopt Mittens for Detroit. Keep up your heroic and loving work MFD!
