I've been a volunteer at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard since November 1998. You can find me in the gift shop! I get to meet the employees, patients, visitors and other community volunteers. It is so rewarding helping someone find just the right gift to take up to a patient, or bring one of the patients a gift for their floor nurses. Many times one of the hospital employees needs a gift for a family member and is working too many hours to shop so we become their personal shopper! Along with specialty gifts we carry a large array of religious articles along with plants, flowers, greeting cards, Sees candy and sugar free candy. The costs in the gift shop are so reasonable and comes with gift wrapping or a free bag. There is free parking for shoppers and you don't have to be visiting someone in the hospital in order to shop here! We accept most major credit cards, debit cards and even cash! Please think of the gift shop when you need a gift for someone special. You might even consider giving some of your time to volunteer at this location. The warm feeling you get when you help someone by listening to them or directing them to a location in the hospital that they are unfamiliar with just can't be put into words. Besides the gift shop there are a number of other jobs and locations in the hospital that would be so appreciative to have more volunteers. Think about it. You won't regret your decision if you choose to join this wonderful nonprofit!
