Review for A Shelter for Cancer Families (ASCF), Houston, TX, USA
I suffered a relapse of my Ewing's sarcoma in May of 2019 after being cancer free for 13 years. Upon receiving the devastating news, I immediately contacted Missy from A Shelter for Cancer Families to seek many forms of guided help. As expected, I was in shock with the news and had no idea what I would need as I started the cancer journey all over again. She quickly came up to the hospital to serve as a navigator for my family. She and the ASCF team anticipated the greatest areas of need for our family and diligently created a plan of action to assist us. ASCF came up with #TeamNowell campaign which helped raise funds from the community to fulfill needs such as housekeeping, child care, grocery shopping, and lawn care. ASCF has gone over and beyond our expectations and has greatly lessen the financial and emotional burden that cancer causes. They have not only helped me as an individual by providing navigation services but also as a family with their assistance in grocery shopping and meal planning for our entire household. We are so grateful for their help and support during this season of life.
