Review for Lions Eye Foundation Of California Nevada Inc, San Francisco, CA, USA
During my time as a Literacy Consultant with the Clark County Library District in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Lions Club assisted our clients with gaining access to ophthalmology services and in fulfilling prescriptions for eye glasses.
The Lions Club changed the lives of so many; individuals who have been unable to see clearly, many for years, were once again given the gift of sight. Thanks to the dedication and devotion of the Lions Club, our clients were able to meet their goals of successfully completing English language courses, getting jobs and reading to their children.
Review for New Mexico Coalition For Literacy, Santa Fe, NM, USA
Had a scheduled appointment, a few days out with NMCL; a second interview for the position of Program Manager with the Director and Outreach Coordinator. When I arrived five minutes before ten for our morning appointment, they had canceled the meeting and did not bother to notify me prior. Only the Outreach Coordinator was there, and she acted as if she had no idea why I had arrived. There was no attempt to reschedule, only vagueness about how she had been busy, and something about the Director having an emergency, that rang untrue.
At best, it is unconscious behavior. At worst, complete disregard and a lack of respect for others (and themselves). Terribly disappointing, reflects poorly on the organization behind a worthy cause dear to my heart. Never before had I experienced anything remotely close to this in my professional life. Many reasons not to hire someone, never a reason to be inconsiderate and dismissive.
